General Summary of Duties:

Perform Third-Party Collection Procedures that follow Federal, State, and Local laws in order to secure payment for outstanding bad-debt accounts while working with attorneys and legal team.

Duties of Job:

  • Compliance: Follows all Federal, State, and Local laws regarding the collection of bad debt accounts - including, but not limited to, FDCPA, HIPAA, Rules of Civil Procedure
  • Case Management/Data Entry: Verifies, enters, updates, corrects and archives information within company databases, folders and spreadsheets relating to accounts placed for third-party collection.
  • Communication: Confers with attorneys , co-workers, colleagues, court staff and process servers by phone, email and/or IM when necessary
  • General office: Performs filing, sorting, mailing, faxing, copying and scanning
  • Prepares account(s) for litigation following established guidelines for in-house or forwarding attorney
  • Performs tasks required to move the case through the litigation process in an effort to collect on outstanding bad-debt. Tasks may include but are not limited to:
  • Manage court calendar
  • Draft legal documents
  • Coordinate process service
  • File legal documents with the court
  • Forward firm tracking and follow up
  • Verify Bankruptcy and Probate information and either send information to an internal department or our client for processing
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor

Entry Level Job Requirements:

  • High school education or equivalent*
  • Knowledge of business office procedures
  • Knowledge of Outlook, Microsoft Excel, Word, Publisher, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to sort and file materials correctly by alphabetic and numeric systems
  • Proficient and professional communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with, consumers, clients, employees, vendors and the public, Ability to maintain confidentiality of information and documents
  • Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instruction
  • Ability to stay on task while staying organized
  • Ability to work consistently and meet assigned goals and deadlines with minimal error
  • Must be punctual with little or no absenteeism other than personal/vacation time allowed
  • Must be a self-starter, self-managing, and self-motivated
  • Must be team and company oriented
  • *Associates degree and/or paralegal certificate preferred but not required. Will train qualified candidate
